The two brave knights are seized and called before the local Cardinal (Lee) to explain why they returned late from the East. The dying Cardinal, also infested by the epidemic, threatens to imprison the two unless they agree to take a dangerous mission. The cardinal’s dungeon holds a young woman (Claire Foy) who is accused of being a witch and is the reason for the devastation in the land. The Cardinal gave them a deal that they could redeem themselves only if they will escort the girl to a remote abbey where she is to face trial.
